14th, Thursday, NASW Idaho and Capella University present: INTRODUCTION TO TRAUMA, WEBINAR:5pm - 7pm Mountain. Training provided by Patricia A. Sherman, Ph.D., LCSW, LICSW, social worker for 50 years and has worked in many different venues, including the Veterans Administration as a caseworker, field instructor, and supervisor, being the director of an adoption agency, maintaining a private practice, and being president of her own consulting practice. Dr. Sherman was a tenured assistant professor at Kean Universityfor 20 years. In her private practice she specialized in treating issues of sexual trauma, grief, chronic and terminal illness, and adoption. Currently in her consulting and training practice she provides supervision, training, and consultation on trauma, grief, cultural humility, and self-care. She is a member of NASW, ACSW, IATP, ISTSS; she is also a Certified Domestic Violence Counselor and a Diplomate, National Association of Forensic Counselors – Academy of Certified Domestic Violence Counselors. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Minnesota and currently teaches for Capella University.

In this webinar, participants will learn what constitutes trauma and how people react to traumatic situations. Participants will discuss findings from the Adverse Childhood Experiences study and understand the impact of childhood trauma on adult health and behavior. Various treatment modalities will be presented and ways to foster resilience highlighted. Participants will also be able to explore ways to enhance the ability of their own organizations to become trauma-informed.
